Cannot upload an EAP1750H backup config file exported using a Mac

Recommended Posts

The backup configuration file when exported from the EAP1750H has the .gz file extension as it is a GZIP compressed file. If a Mac computer is used when exporting the backup configuration file from and EAP1750H, it will automatically extract the configuration from the .gz file resulting in a larger file with a .tar file extension which cannot be uploaded directly to the EAP1750H using the configuration upload option on its GUI.

Do we have to convert it to .gz file before we can upload it back to EAP1750H?

I am not sure if compressing the .tar file to .gz using GZIP will allow the configuration file to be uploaded on an EAP1750H. That would be interesting to know if it is possible.

Can we manually change the extension of the file?

Manually changing the file extension will not work because the file is already extracted and not in a compressed format. You will notice that the extracted .tar file is larger than the .gz compressed file.

Are there any cases where the exported file damaged the firmware of the device?

Here is a solution, open the General tab of Safari's preferences and set it not to open safe files will export the configuration file to .gz not .tar file extension.
